Tick the Advanced box on the Send Message page to reveal the Advanced sending options. You can use state/province and country to target your subscribers by region. If the lists for State/Province and or Country are blank, you have not collected state/province or country information from your subscribers. If you have collected this information, each unique value will appear once in the lists. For example, if one subscriber entered WA as state and another entered Wash, both values will appear once in the list under State/province. Likewise with US and USA: both values will appear in the list for country. Only the actual values in your customers’ profiles will appear. For example, if you do not have any subscribers from California on your list, you will not have a value for CA and will not be able to target using this parameter.

Remember the filters are cumulative: in order to receive your mailing the address must meet ALL filter criteria. So if you select all of the Washington state values and then click Canada for country, your mailing probably will go to no one because the criteria is for a subscriber who is in Washington state and in Canada. If you’re not sure you collected country info, or if there’s a chance your subscribers left the field blank, you might not want to use country in conjunction with state—it’s not really necessary. On the other hand, many North American companies need to send separate emails to their Canadian and their American customers: in this case, use the country filter. But if you only want the Canadians from British Columbia, then you might be better off choosing British Columbia from the Province filter and not using the Country filter.

To select multiple States/Provinces or Countries, hold Ctrl or Command key when clicking to select. Note: When you select multiple states/provinces or multiple countries, you are not requiring that the member be in all states or countries, but rather allowing members from any of the states or any of the countries you selected to be included in the target.
