Mustang List features automatic
bounce handling. Email addresses that consistently
bounce must be removed from your list to help preserve your relationship with the ISP of the email address. If the ISPs see you are sending to an address (or addresses) that bounces repeatedly, they could misidentify you as a spammer and think you are harvesting email addresses. Mustang List handles bounces in two ways depending on whether it is a first time mailing to an email address or a subsequent mailing.
First Time Mailings: If an email address bounces the very first time you try and send email to that email address from Mustang List, Mustang List will automatically remove the email address. This helps to protect your sending reputation if your list building practices prior to joining Mustang List were not as diligent as they should be.
Subsequent Mailings: If an email address bounces at some point after you’ve already successfully sent an email to that email address from the Mustang List system, Mustang List will mark the subscriber as having one
bounce.
The very next time you send an email to this email address two things can happen: it can
bounce again or it can get through. If that email address bounces again, the
bounce tally will be changed to two bounces. If the email gets through to the email address that bounced the last time, the
bounce tally is reset from one to zero and the subscriber gets a clean slate, so to speak.
After an email address has two bounces the next time you send email to that address two things can happen: the email can get through in which case, the
bounce tally is reset from two to zero and the subscriber gets a clean slate. Or, the email address can
bounce for a 3rd consecutive time. On a third consecutive
bounce, Mustang List removes the email address from the system automatically (they are rendered Inactive and messages are not sent to that email address). The email address is invalid or not accepting email from you.
This is Mustang List’s standard
bounce handling practice. Mustang List can manually adjust this standard depending on your individual list’s characteristics. Mustang List can also set up different
bounce handling for different lists, if necessary.bounces
